wishing her teachers luck

Posted on Updated on

Alice starts school in just over a month. I really cannot believe how quickly this has crept up on us. It doesn’t seem that long ago that she was being dragged kicking and screaming from my abdomen and now I find myself buying school uniform for a child who will most likely be taller than me by the time she’s twelve.

I guess I shouldn’t be surprised, after all I’ve spent the last four and a half years wishing, sometimes very loudly, that she would grow up and it seems she’s finally decided to. Overnight. While I was blinking.

Example: (Yesterday afternoon, sitting on the sofa beside Nick watching the football) “Daddy,” (waits until she has his full attention) “How is the world made?”

Funnily enough I can remember a little girl of about Alice’s age asking similarly difficult questions, such as ” what mkes the wind blow”, must run in the family……..
